Salvador Dalí, Marquis of Dalí of Pubol, born on May 11, 1902, in Figueras, and deceased on January 23, 1989, in the same town, is a Catalan painter, sculptor, engraver, scriptwriter and writer. He is considered as one of the main representatives of surrealism and as one of the most famous painters of the XXth century.

After artistic studies in Madrid, Dalí moved to France, on Joan Miro's advice, where he joined the surrealists, which movement he was excluded some years later. Dalí left France for New York during World War II, where he stayed 8 years and where he made a fortune.

Dalí most used topics were dream, sexuality, food, his wife Gala and religion.
