Hrair Diarbekirian is a Lebanese artist born in 1946. He studied interior architecture and painting at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts. Hrair’s works are characterized by vibrant, whimsical compositions, filled with repetitive forms, figures, and patterns, and influenced by his architectural background. He often explores the balance between masculine and feminine through his depictions of horses and women. His paintings evoke Armenian miniature painting and Byzantine iconography, while eschewing classical Western principles of design. Hrair’s works have gained him international acclaim and have been purchased by prestigious collectors, including Queen Elizabeth II of England and King Fahad Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia.
